Of Neptune (The Syrena Legacy), By Anna Banks. But who cares, right? True love wins out again! Ughhhh.Of Neptune (The Syrena Legacy), by Anna Banks It's like it was thrown in their just to give resolution to this awful romance while throwing the actual plot to the wind. While supposedly a traditional Syrena ceremony, it looks an awful lot like a normal western human wedding on a beach, complete with white bridal gowns and tuxedos.for a people who don't wear clothing. Adding further insult to injury is the way the book tries so hard to build up the conflict between the town of Neptune and the two ocean kingdoms, then abandons the plot entirely once it starts heading towards a resolution to skip forward a year and give us an entire chapter focusing on Emma's wedding - I mean, mating ceremony, to Galen. That sounds more like throwing a clingy new creeper into the mix than presenting the main character with any semblance of a real choice between two men who are repeatedly said to be amazing catches. It did nothing to enhance the story, drive the plot forward, have any real impact on the main characters' romance, or even serve as a legitimate love triangle, as Emma was very clearly having none of it. And don't even get me started on the "love triangle." The newly introduced love triangle, if it can even be called that, is so contrived and explicitly one sided that you have to wonder how any drama came out of that plot snarl to begin with. It tries to introduce too many new things and tie them in very poorly to too many things that have already been introduced, and it trips over itself at every given opportunity.
